On May 9th, Casey Jones, of our Angels Program, started reverse sneezing and was having difficulty breathing. We rushed her to CARES in Langhorne, PA. She spent about an hour in an oxygen tank. Casey also had a series of x-rays taken as well as blood work. The x-rays & blood work came back normal. Casey quickly recovered and her oxygen levels returned to a normal levels.
The emergency doctors at CARES believe that Casey may have an elongated soft palate that could be slightly restricting her airways. Her nasal passages appear to be of normal size for her. The doctors at CARES recommended that we seek a surgical consultation.
Casey Jones was seen at Garden State Veterinary Specialists by one of their surgical specialists on May 23rd. GSVS is very familiar with Casey, her deformities, and special needs. It was determined that she will need surgery of her nose and soft palate surgery to help her breathing.
Since we are good clients at Garden State Vet, the surgeons there are willing to work with us! They have reduced the estimate for Casey’s surgery from $2,300 to $2,500 to $1,800-$2,200. We have approximately $750 set aside for her surgery.

Casey was born in a puppy mill with a lot of deformities. Both of her front legs are dislocated at the shoulders with no hope of surgical relief, except possible amputation when she gets older. When she was surrendered to us, both rear leg knee caps were completely luxated. PPSNR was able raise enough funds for both surgeries on her rear legs. Now Casey needs your help again as she is having some troubles breathing.
