Cassidy
Cassidy

Cassidy was our first pug that we adopted. She was adopted from the now defunct Precious Pug Rescue & Adoption (PPRA).  As soon as we saw her sweet face on their website, we fell in love with her. She was so cute & full of wrinkles.  Cassidy was rescued from a puppy mill where she was used for breeding.  She was also blind from PK and had congestive heart failure.

Before Cassidy came home to us, we scoured the internet looking and reading as much as we could about blind dogs.  We wanted to give her the best of everything in life.  Cassidy came home in October of 2009.  It took her about two months to bark.  We will never forget that night.  Rachel was getting her dinner ready and she squeaked out a little bark.  Rachel was so excited she called Jeff screaming, “SHE BARKS!!”  Since then Cassidy ruled our home and hearts. Every day was a great day with Cassidy. We got to watch her grow and learn to trust people. She loved everyone.

We got to watch her learn what toys are. Cassidy loved plush squeaky toys. Every time we took her to Pet Smart, she literally found the toy aisle and would play with whatever toy she could reach on her own. She would play non-stop. It was difficult to get her to settle down for bed time because she wanted to play with her toys. She was so full of life and love. We only had her for two and a half years. Complications from congestive heart failure and a tumor behind her eye took her from us in December of 2011. Cassidy is our inspiration for everything that we do that is animal rescue related.

We love and miss you every day,

Rachel & Jeff Koltoff
